Sustainable development began in 1987 and has since been the most generally used word in the last decade, owing to the world’s long-term security in the form of 17 global goals. Social sustainability is critical for long-term development since it is a proxy for employee well-being and social involvement within the organization and community. It is a holistic technique for creating a sustainable environment that promotes well-being and health. Indeed, the sustainable well-being of employees as a result of their work environment, positive work attitude, and work behavior plays a critical role in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs can be achieved through good health and well-being (SDG-3), understood holistically, decent work and economic growth (SDG-8), and gender equality (SDG-5). However, these objectives are inextricably intertwined and interdependent. Workplaces can therefore play a role in helping corporations reach their sustainable development objectives. The current global turmoil caused by Covid-19 poses “grand” issues for individuals, society, organizations, and, ultimately, societal sustainability. Researchers are unanimous in their belief that there has been insufficient consideration and dedication shown towards social sustainability. We argue that social science can be used to promote long-term corporate sustainability and healthy work lives.
